Should a PCORI-funded dialyis decision aid leave out home HD altogether? Home Dialyzors United doesn’t think so, and wants the new tool to allow clinics to follow the requirements in the Conditions for Coverage to tell people about ALL of their options and where to get them.

Maximum ultrafiltration rate as a measure of optimal HD
Our own Dr. Agar has a “think-piece” in the most recent issue of Hemodialysis International proposing a new measure of dialysis based on the rate of fluid removal.
Dialysis removes both wastes and water. Yet, while we have measures for waste removal, we have no marker for water—even though, in the short run, it is more important for patient health and well-being. Dr. Agar proposes a maximum ultrafiltration rate. Read the abstract
