Adverse access events rare in extended home HD
The biggest fear for most people who think about extended home HD at night is having a needle come out. But, this is very rare. A new study
counted events in 202 home HD users (who had a mean of five 8-hour treatments per week; 757 patient years). The problem rate per year was 0.049 for
fistulas, 0.015 for grafts, and 0.022 for catheters. There were 22 first and 7 recurrent events (mainly needle dislodgements). None of these events were
