Longer HD treatments may reduce the risk of early dementia
A new study that screened 1,617 people on in-center HD at 27 centers for early dementia found the devastating problem in 414 of them (25.6%). But, the longer the treatment times, the lower the risk. In fact, the odds ratio of dementia dropped by 52.2% for each extra hour
of HD. Age, BMI, history of stroke, diabetes, and serum albumin levels were also risk factors. Read the abstract.
