2023 USRDS Annual Data Report Sheds New Light on Home
Dialysis
The 2023 ADR reports CKD and ESRD data through 2021. Chapter 2 in the
ESRD section is on home dialysis. Among new patients,
13.4% did home dialysis in 2021 vs. 7.5% in 2011. Of
those on dialysis for 12+ months, 22% did home
dialysis. Hispanic and Black patients were still less likely in 2021 to
do home dialysis than Asian and White patients, and those with employer
group health plans as primary payers (34.3%) were 3+ times more likely
to do a home therapy than those with just Medicare and Medicaid (10.2%).
